Vacation, Yay
Last summer, my family and I had our first visit to Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort for the first time in Orlando, Florida. We searched for a nice vacationing spot since we would be staying for two weeks during a remodeling in our home. Some of the amenities in Cabana Bay were familiar to us but little did we know all the goodies that would be in store. We had never stayed in a Universal Studios Resort before.
As soon as we entered the grounds of the Cabana Bay Resort we noticed the many buses outside transporting guests to the parks. Afterward, we were intrigued by the vintage cars (definite photo spot) parked outside the lobby. Once in the Cabana we were warmly welcomed by a friendly staff and greeted by a lively classic 1950’s theme playing golden oldies music which had me bopping and moving to the tunes throughout. A wonderful ambiance took us back to a time of poodle skirts and sock hops. Televisions were playing hit shows of the past as they were positioned throughout the dining area for a relaxing and pleasant experience.
Vroom vroom Hotel lobby with my sister. Hmm. What is this thing? But first, family pose by this awesome window.
Our Room
Our room was a family suite which provided two queen beds, a sofa bed complete. The great thing about the room was that the queen beds were in one section and the sofa bed was separated by a roll-out divider for those family members who are looking for a little more quiet time. That room also provided a nice mini refrigerator with a complete kitchenette area with a sink.
Our Room
One thing that definitely stood out to us was the view we had. Our window looked right onto one of the pools, lazy river, and the various games available such as corn hole, Ping-Pong, the volleyball net and Universal’s Volcano Bay which was basically our back yard. Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort is right in the heart of all the action and that’s where we found ourselves. Volcano Bay was so close in proximity, that we heard the cheers and squeals coming from the water park. It is only a few feet away from the resort.
What a view!
Sunshine and activities were all around as we partook of the fun things the Resort had to offer. The Cabana offers two great pools, but my favorite was the larger one that has a very fun water slide. My absolute favorite was the lazy river and it was the main reason I choose this hotel. I purchased floats (put it on my hotel tab as cash was not allowed) and just lounged around taking in the sun and rest. I also enjoyed winding down in the two Jacuzzi’s at the Resort.
Lazy river here I come. She came down saying weeeeeeeee.
There are cabanas which can be rented out for a day or even the duration of a stay for private parties or even for just some alone time but due to restraints, we were not able to do so. It is also really nice how many fire pits are located throughout the pool area making it perfect for a romantic evening or even a family time roasting marshmallows, making S’mores, warming up or sitting and reading a good book.
About the Pool
We purchased burgers and ice cream several times from The Atomic Tonic and Hideaway Bar and Grill which were located on the ground floor close to the pools. Our visit also included the indoor arcade but unfortunately did not have enough time to make it to the Galaxy Bowl and Restaurant which is an indoor glow in the dark bowling alley.
Supersonic
The main dining area is called the Bayliner Dinner and has an assortment of food from the fresh salad bar for the health-conscious to the self-serve stand of frozen yogurt for those with a sweet tooth which we visited a few times. All throughout our stay, we frequently stopped at Starbucks by the Lobby to get drinks and snacks.
The hotel gift shop was very inviting and had lots of cute trinkets and souvenirs. It also had things that we forgot to take on the trip such as a water protector for our phones. We were able to take pictures of water activities and not ruin our iPhone’s because the gift shop supplied protective phone cases.
Sightseeing
We went to City Walk and Universal Studios and had no need to use our car since the Cabana Bay transported us via bus or Water Taxi (very cute) through Loews Blue Sapphire Resort (sister hotel). We walked across the street from the Cabana and caught the Water Taxi for a great soothing ride to the parks. There were no additional costs for transportation to the parks.
Great time.
My family and I had great fun and were not disappointed. There is so much to do that we did not have time to try everything and are all looking forward to returning to go bowling, making s’mores in the fire pits and even to use the Jack Lalanne fitness center. Our next visit will also include taking our shot at the Ping-Pong tables, volleyball net and corn hole games We are looking forward to another visit to Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort.
See ya later Universal
